Permit Process Of Mt. Ararat - F.A.Q.

  • Q: Is it obligatory to get a permit for Mt Ararat climb?
    A: Yes, you do need to get permit for Mt.Arart climb and with this permit you need to get a sport visa.
  • Q: What is a "sport visa"?
    A: It is a special visa for special activities you intend to do in Turkey like climbing or other sport activities and cannot be get after arriving Turkey.
  • Q: How does the permit process work?
    A: Only agencies (wich members of TURSAB) and offical Turkey Mountain federation guides can apply for you to get the permit to Turkish Cultur Ministry. You need to send the passport details to an agency or to a official guide.They apply for you and you take the permit and the sport visa from nearest Turkish consulate in your country. You need to pay 50 USD for the permit process to us and 50 Euro for the sport visa to     Turkish consulate.
  • Q: How long does it take to get the permit?
    A: You need to send the passport details at least 1,5 - 2 months earlier to your departure.
  • Q: Can the permit and sport visa obtain after arriving Turkey?
    A: No, you cannot get the permit or sport visa after arriving Turkey because its process takes minumum
    1,5 month. If someone says it can be obtain after you arrive, do not believe them. There are people who get money from you for the permit but do not apply for it and prepair fake documents, becareful !
    You should choose reliable agencies which is a member of ( TURSAB, Turkish Agencies Fedaration) or an offical  mountain guide. 
  • Q: After you get the permit and the sport visa, what else do you need?
    A: You need to find an offical mountain guide (in Turkish: mihmandar), who will guide you for the Mt.Ararat.
  • Q: Can you climb Mt Ararat without an official guide or on your own?
    A: No, even you are able to climb own your own, you have to get an official guide or you should apply an agency as a foreign for also security purposes. Without giving a mihmandar name you cannot get the permit from the consulate. If you apply your permit throug an agency you will not be asked a guide name, because agencies have to employ official guides (local guides are not allowed to guide you on Mt Ararat     according to law).

    Q: How much does an official guide gets?
    A: An official guides fee is 600 USD for one climb ( approximetly for 4-6 days) and their other expenses like accomodation in hotels if necesary.
  • Q: How many official guide (mihmandar) do you need to take?
    A: For a group of 8 people you get one offical guide and over 8 people you need to get second guide.

    Q: Do we get the permit for you?
    A: Yes, as an specialist outdoor agency (and member of TURSAB), even you do not want to climb with us we can only process the permit if you want.
